Over the past couple of weeks a video has surfaced on the Internet featuring an interview of an unnamed developer of the highly anticipated, genre-bending game, the Division. The background of the game is set in a post-apocalyptic New York soon after the outbreak of a catastrophic virus that has decimated the population and destroyed society in just a few days.

This game, which because of its unique game mechanics promises to be unlike any survival fantasy that have come before it, has been in the news for all the wrong reasons of late. In the above-mentioned interview, the developer with regards to PC version of the game is heard saying, “we do have to kind of keep it in check with the consoles; it would kind of be unfair just to push it so far away from them.”

This confession has been interpreted as a signal of Ubisoft holding back the PC edition of the game in terms of graphics, but today the game studio, Ubisoft Massive has released a statement to deny any such thing.

“It has come to our attention that a comment from one of our team members has been perceived by some members of the community to imply the PC version of The Division was ‘held back’ and this is simply not true. From the beginning, the PC version of The Division was developed from the ground up and we’re confident players will enjoy the game and the features this version has to offer. And the feedback from PC players who participated in the recent closed beta supports this.”

The Division is set to be released in March and recently held a closed beta on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Beta testers largely gave a positive feedback to the game, while also mentioning the that the Xbox One and PC versions resembled each other closely. This again would point out to how the Division could already have been brought to the PC audience with a leash around its neck.
