The company announced that the smartphone will be released in global markets on July 28. The launch event will take place in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, and will be live-streamed as well. Globally, the smartphone will be launched as the Zenfone 9, but in India, it will be known as the 9z.

Asus has teased that the Zenfone 9 will be “Compact Size”, hinting at its size. Last year’s Zenfone 8 was a delight, compact and one-hand usable, like the android equivalent to the iPhone 13 mini. Unlike last year, Asus may not launch two phones, with the Zenfone 9 launching only as reports suggest.

Asus Zenfone 9: Specifications

Specifications of the Asus Zenfone 9 are yet to be confirmed. However, a leaked video from last week revealed a number of features and specs. Powering the Zenfone 9 will be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. The display is a 5.9-inch AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate while the battery is a 4300 mAh unit with 65W fast charging support.

Video Via GSMArena

The two biggest talking points from the leak are the cameras and Zentouch. The Asus Zenfone 9 will use Sony’s 50-megapixel IMX766 sensor as the main shooter. Though the sensor is used by a lot of other smartphones, its Asus’ integration of a 6-axis hybrid gimbal stabilizer that makes it unique. Gimbals are mainly used to give increased stability to cameras. It will be interesting to see how it performs in the Zenfone 9.

The other big feature is what Asus has dubbed the Zentouch. It allows the power button (itself dubbed the Smart Key) to essentially work as a scroll wheel to slide up and down webpages. It has been ages since scroll wheels on phones went extinct, and this could be the best way to make a comeback. The power button also works as a fingerprint sensor.

Other features include a 3.5mm jack (always welcome), dual speakers, and an IP68 water resistance rating.

Asus Zenfone 9: Price

Though prices for the Asus Zenfone 9 haven’t been revealed yet, a tipster suggested the Zenfone 9 could cost between EUR 800 (INR 64,700) and EUR 900 (INR 72,800. The leaked video also showed off the colour choices for the Zenfone 9, red, white, blue, and black. What do you think of the Zenfone 9? Would you be interested in buying it? Motorola Edge+ Fills The Flagship Gap https://www.igyaan.in/197163/motorola-edge-flagship-gap/ https://www.igyaan.in/197163/motorola-edge-flagship-gap/#respond Mon, 08 Jun 2020 09:38:38 +0000 https://www.igyaan.in/?p=197163 Motorola’s recent launch of the Moto Edge+ propels the once mi-range champion back into the flagship race. The Moto Edge+ shows what a major known brand is capable of.

Buy the Motorola Edge+ by clicking here.

Video:

The Motorola Edge+ while filling the void in the flagship market, slots above the OnePlus 8 Pro and below Samsung’s Galaxy S20 lineup. Finding a sweet spot with respect to hardware and performance.

Display

The Motorola Edge+ features a 6.67 inch AMOLED display with a 21:9 aspect ratio. The display has a 2340 x 1080px resolution with 90 degree edge on both sides. A 90Hz refresh rate which features an automatic switch to 60Hz refresh rates on low battery. The 10 bit display is also HDR 10+ rated and the phone utilizes the edge in several ways.  The most interesting of which is the ability to add trigger buttons to the edge of the screen. These will act as tactile buttons during gaming on games like PubG Mobile and COD Mobile. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The edge also is used to navigate through the UI. can be used to pull down the notification shade, pull up the apps, jump into multi tasking and also access shortcuts.

The Edge has lighting effects which also appear during charging or can be customised for notifications.

Hardware

The Motorola Edge+ features a impressive mig of hardware under the hood. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 ties in the main compute with the Adreno 650 GPU for graphics. This is packed with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB of storage. this combination puts serious hurt on smartphones like the Galaxy S20+ which feature exynos chipsets and lower RAM and storage.

The Moto Edge+ also ties in a massive 5000 mAh battery although charging is limited to 18W. Despite the largest battery in segment the Edge+ loses out on rapid charge which can be seen in other devices.

Camera

The Motorola Edge+ has an impressive mix of cameras. Starting with the main 108 MP, f/1.8 Sony sensor. The main sensor also capture 6K video and is also capable of ultra smooth video thanks to software and hardware based video stabilisation.

The second camera is a 16 MP, f/2.2 ultra wide camera which also doubles up as a macro camera. This is one of the best uses of the camera space much better than the 2 MP or 4 MP macro sensors seen on other devices. The third camera is an 8MP telephoto camera. The cameras are paired up with a TOF sensor to improve depth mapping.

The front camera has a 25 MP, f/2.0 sensor which is capable of portrait shots and slow motion video.

Other Aspects

The Motorola Edge+ is a return to flagship device for Motorola. While the company has focused it’s efforts in the US and EU the brand has stayed away from launching premium handsets in India. The Motorola Edge+ changes that.

The Moto Edge+ is priced at Rs. 74999 with a permanent discount of Rs. 7500. Effective pricing the phone at Rs. 67500.

Motorola Edge+ Does miss out on some key things like any kind of water resistance rating. Even though the phone has a water repellent nano coating. The phone also limits charging to 18w while some phones offer upwards of 30W.

What Is Pixel Binning In Smartphone Cameras? Here Is What You Should Know https://www.igyaan.in/196897/what-is-pixel-binning/ https://www.igyaan.in/196897/what-is-pixel-binning/#respond Sat, 31 Aug 2019 07:59:59 +0000 https://www.igyaan.in/?p=196897 The year 2019 has seen many innovative features arrive on smartphones. One of the ubiquitous out of the many features this year has been a high-resolution primary camera on the devices. Starting with budget handsets, the trend has trickled up to most modern flagship smartphones, like the OnePlus 7 Pro, Asus 6Z, Nubia Red Magic 3 and the Redmi K20 Pro. All these devices feature the same 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor as their primary camera. What’s special about the sensor is not the megapixel count, but the technology behind it. It uses pixel binning to create sharp 12MP images and the technology is the reason why the sensor is present on many devices. But what exactly is pixel binning? Here is everything you need to know about it.

Understanding The Concept Of A Pixel

Redmi K20 Pro

To understand what pixel binning means, we first have to understand what pixels are. While a pixel is generally defined as the smallest element in a picture represented on screen. However, in this context, pixels are the smallest physical elements on a digital camera sensor that capture light during photography. They are measured using microns, which is a unit of length a million times smaller than a meter. The bigger the pixel size in a camera, the more light it can capture. This will result in much sharper and brighter images, which is the goal of every camera manufacturer.

However, the bigger the pixel sensor size is, the bigger the camera unit will be which is a difficult feat to put inside a smartphone’s slender frame. This leads to the intrusive camera bumps that make the device wobble when kept flat. So basically smaller pixel size = bad low light performance, but a larger pixel = huge camera sensor. So, how to fix this issue? This is where the pixel binning technology arrives into the picture.

What Is Pixel Binning?

Redmi Note 7S

Pixel Binning is the process of combining four adjacent pixels into one. So a camera sensor which has a pixel size of 0.8 microns will combine these pixels into a 2×2 grid to form a larger 1.6-micron pixel image. The effective resolution is usually one-fourth of what the sensor is capable of. This means that a 48MP sensor effectively produces 12MP images, and a 64MP sensor will produce 16MP images. Combining the pixels will result in a brighter and sharper image, without the hassles of a huge camera sensor.

As mentioned above, the most popular sensor that supports pixel binning in smartphones is the 48MP Sony IMX586. There is also the Samsung ISOCELL GM1 with the same resolution, but it’s not very common and present on a handful of devices like the Redmi Note 7s and the Lenovo Z6 Pro. A few weeks ago, Samsung also announced the ISOCELL HMX, a sensor with a whopping 108MP resolution that uses the pixel binning technology to produce high-resolution 27MP images. This sensor is expected to debut in the upcoming Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 smartphone.

The Future Of Smartphone Cameras

While the idea behind the pixel binning technology sounds exciting and a good way to tackle a particular problem, it is not the only way. While the goal was to reduce the camera sensor size and fit it inside a smartphone, most of the devices with the sensors still have a huge camera bump. Additionally, none of the handsets with the famous pixel binned sensors are the best in their class. It is possible to produce better low light images by software, as Google has demonstrated with the Pixel’s Night Sight feature.

So while it may be cool to boast about the 48MP or 64MP camera that your smartphone has, the results they produce are nothing to write home about. Granted, the details they produce are at times extraordinary, but for most social media sharing, where the images are anyway compressed for any of the details to be visible, it frankly doesn’t matter. But, if combined with better software, these pixel binned sensors may be a good thing for future smartphones and definitely one of the better features to have come out recently.

Realme 5 Pro Vs Redmi Note 7 Pro: Which One To Choose? https://www.igyaan.in/196026/realme-5-pro-vs-redmi-note-7-pro/ https://www.igyaan.in/196026/realme-5-pro-vs-redmi-note-7-pro/#respond Tue, 20 Aug 2019 13:25:47 +0000 https://www.igyaan.in/?p=196026 On the 20th of August, Realme launched two new smartphones which include the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro. As the name suggests, the latter is a beefed-up variant and it sports a better chipset and camera. Going by its pricing, the newly launched device competes against the Redmi Note 7 Pro which is one of the best value smartphones in this segment available in the country.

Both the handsets from Realme and Redmi have similar specs which make it difficult for the consumer to choose the best option. To help solve the dilemma we have laid out the different aspects of the Realme 5 Pro and the Redmi Note 7 Pro. Consequently, after reading the article you will determine which device suits your need and which one you should pick if you planning to buy a mid-ranger.

Design and Build

In terms of build, both the Redmi Note 7 Pro and the Realme 5 Pro have glass on the front and back which is held together with a polycarbonate chassis. The front of the two handsets have a waterdrop notch display which provides them with an elegant look.

The Redmi Note 7 Pro is offered in four colour variants which include Nebula Red, Neptune Blue, Space Black and Astro White. In contrast, the Realme 5 Pro is offered in two variants which include Crystal Green and Crystal Blue.

Based on our design preferences, we feel the holographic rear panel of the Realme 5 Pro looks more appealing therefore we give it the first round.

Display

Both the Redmi Note 7 Pro and the Realme 5 Pro are equipped with an LCD display that measures 6.3 inch. Moreover, the resolution of the display panel on the two smartphones is 409 ppi and they have an aspect ratio of 19.5:9.

While the former is safeguarded with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 the latter settles down with the Gorilla Glass 3. Due to better display protection, Redmi Note 7 Pro wins this round.

Battery

The Redmi Note 7 Pro is powered a 4,000 mAh battery that supports 18 W fast charging. On the other hand, the Realme 5 Pro has a slightly larger battery which has a capacity of 4,035 mAh and it also supports VOOC 3.0 technology.

The technology allows the smartphone to be charged with a maximum power of 20 W which is tad bid higher than the Note 7 Pro. However, the Realme 5 Pro ships with a 20 W compatible charger whereas its competitor is shipped with a 10 W charger. Slightly bigger battery and in-box fast charger make Realme’s offering take this round.

Chipset

Both the smartphones are kitted with Qualcomm chipsets. While the Realme 5 Pro packs the Snapdragon 712 SoC, the Redmi Note 7 Pro packs the Snapdragon 675 SoC.

Chipsets on both smartphones consist of Octa-Core CPU though they have disparate GPUs. The SD712 incorporates the Adreno 616 while the SD675 Adreno 612 GPU. Connectivity options on the two smartphones are also heterogenous which include dual 4G VoLTE, 802.11 ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, 3.5 mm headphone jack and the bottom-mounted USB Type C port which can be used for charging and data transfer.

Both the Redmi Note 7 Pro and the Realme 5 Pro also have a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor which allows to rapidly and securely bypass the lock screen. However, one feature that only the former offers, is an IR blaster. Although not a huge deal breaker or deal maker, this feature can come in handy more often than not.

Just for the record, the inclusion of an infrared sensor makes the Note 7 Pro steer ahead of its competitor in this segment.

Though due to a higher number of camera sensors, faster-charging support (along with fast charger) and a refreshing design we feel the Realme 5 Pro could be a better choice than the Redmi Note 7 Pro for a lot of consumers.

The devices, as the name suggests, are made with modifications or tweaks with gaming in mind. Previously, the genre had failed miserably with many unsuccessful attempts of bringing a new breed of cellular yet portable gaming consoles to the mainstream markets. Since then, consumer’s perspective has changed and the unique handsets are now widely sought after. But, do we really need a gaming smartphone?

To answer the question lets take a look at the brief history of gaming smartphones alongside other portable gaming devices.

Xiaomi Black Shark 2

Portable Gaming

The first video game ever created was Pong back in 1958. Since its inception, a new multi-billion dollar industry has been borne with gaming as its business model. Soon after, in the early 1960s, consumers were looking at video games as the next big thing in the entertainment industry. Hence, companies took notice and game studios were founded. By 1970s, there were already multiple studios with various games for PCs alongside the first form of gaming consoles. Interestingly, the first consoles also birthed the race for portable consoles that have a wider reach and easier accessibilities.

Nintendo DS

Nintendo is widely credited for being the company to popularize the handheld console market with its release of Game Boy in 1989. The portable gaming console was explosive in success and dominated the market for years into the future. Note, this was also the time where the mobile industry had devices become more compact meaning more portability. The gaming industry and mobile industry went parallel for the better part of each respective infant stages. However, the advancement in technology meant a cross over was soon to be expected.

Gaming Smartphones of Old

Gaming smartphones are not a new breed. Although they are now certainly a lot more viable than before. The reason why many established OEMs kept their distance from them is due to their infamous history. Devices such as the Nokia N-Gage, Sony Ericsson Xperia Play and more are a few that pop into mind. The gaming phones of old were surprisingly more powerful and capable than their handheld gaming consoles at the time in some scenarios.

Nokia N-Gage

For example, the N-Gage was a direct competitor to Game Boy Advance while featuring a much better processor. But, speed isn’t enough as the implementation of controls whilst having games actually made for your platform is rather difficult. The devices launched then suffered either of the two problems or both. At the time, the game studios had no inclination or incentive to collaborate with the mobile OEMs either, since the portable consoles were extremely popular at the time. However, that has since changed.

Gaming Smartphones Now

Surprisingly, even after the harsh history of the breed, gaming smartphones have stood the test of time. It indirectly implies the unending growth of gaming culture and entertainment. Currently, the smartphone gaming market accounts for more revenue than both PC gaming and console gaming market combined. In other words, studios earn more from games like Candy Crush over games like Call of Duty.

Gaming Smartphone

Nubia Red Magic 3

Furthermore, we all know the PUBG Mobile fever that has infected globally, especially India. After the game’s launch, we have seen more smartphone like the Asus ROG Gaming Phones being launched. These smartphones unlike regular feature aesthetical changes which make them look a lot more appealing and gaming-centric. They also carry tweaks and modifications, especially to the UI, to provide an enhanced gaming experience. Unlike the past, there is a booming mobile gaming market to cater to the increasing capabilities of smartphones.

PUBG Mobile

Are They Really Worth It?

Finally, the reason why you are here. Gaming smartphones are worth buying now more than ever before. Tech giants have recognised the true potential of the gaming genre and its immense value and are heavily invested in many mobile gaming studios. However, it would still be advised to wait just a bit longer. Yes, gaming smartphones are the best they have ever been, but they can be better. What we see now is the gaming industry finally penetrating the main stream market of smartphones or as they say, “just the tip of the iceberg.”

Razer Phone 2

Hence, it is expected that specialised hardware, such as MediaTek Helio G90T SoC that is made for gaming, will improve with time and exclusive more mobile gaming studios like Tencent Games will emerge. Regardless of its popularity, the gaming smartphone market is still a niche with its sales not being close to mainstream devices.

Additionally, there really isn’t a lot that difference, in most cases, between a gaming smartphone and a regular flagship. For the most part, gaming handsets offer a better display with a higher refresh rate panel, overclocked SoC or even better cooling solutions. Conclusively, it is a great time for mobile gamers and huge potential in the industry. With a bit more time, it is expected to mature into a gaming world of its own within amazing portability that beats any handheld consoles.

Compact Huawei Nova 5T With 5.5 Inch Punch Hole Display To Launch Soon https://www.igyaan.in/195662/huawei-nova-5t-specs/ https://www.igyaan.in/195662/huawei-nova-5t-specs/#respond Fri, 16 Aug 2019 04:59:59 +0000 https://www.igyaan.in/?p=195662 Earlier this year, the US commerce department designated Huawei to an entity list based on allegations of sending sensitive user data to the Chinese government. This move barred all American companies to terminate all sorts of business relations with the Chinese corporation.

Although the ban has now been lifted Huawei has still not been able to reform its relations with the United States-based companies. It seems that a hindrance as big as this has hardly made any effect on the companies plans. It has been launching aggressively price feature-laden smartphones at regular intervals.

Huawei Nova 5T Android Enterprise Listing

According to a fresh Android Enterprise listing, Huawei will soon launch another high-end smartphone which surprisingly will have a compact form factor. Ever since the bid adieu of Sony’s compact Xperia smartphones, the industry has been demanding for smaller devices which have not been delivered yet.

The upcoming Huawei smartphone will be the Nova 5T and it will be part of the Nova 5 smartphone lineup which was unveiled earlier this year.

As per the images listed on Google site, the Huawei Nova 5T has an attractive design which is due to the front which is dominated by an edge to edge display. Overall, the front fascia of the device is similar to the Huawei Nova 5i Pro which has already been launched. The display measures 5.5 inch and it also has a punch hole which houses the front-facing selfie camera.

Huawei Nova 5i Pro

In terms of memory and storage, the Nova 5T will be offered in two storage options which are as follows:

8 GB + 128 GB
8 GB + 256 GB

For securely and rapidly logging in to the UI, it also has a fingerprint sensor. Although the listing does not reveal it exact location, we believe it will be mounted on the rear. Besides, the Huawei Nova 5T runs on the latest Android 9 Pie and has NFC support.

Unfortunately, the listing has not revealed any details of the processor or the camera sensors incorporated on the smartphone. Therefore, they will be revealed at the official launch until another leak reveals them as well.

The launch date of the smartphone is yet unknown but the Android Enterprise listing suggests it is about to happen soon.

If Huawei is able to price the Huawei Nova 5T at an aggressive price, it could turn out to be a huge success as the demand for compact smartphones has been on the rise and the company can cash on this untapped segment of the mobile industry.

OnePlus 7 Pro Vs Galaxy Note 10+, Which One Should You Pick? https://www.igyaan.in/195174/oneplus-7-pro-vs-galaxy-note-10/ https://www.igyaan.in/195174/oneplus-7-pro-vs-galaxy-note-10/#respond Fri, 09 Aug 2019 09:58:11 +0000 https://www.igyaan.in/?p=195174 Earlier this week, Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 10+ which is targeted towards the premium segment. Following the smartphone’s launch in the US, the company has also started taking its pre-orders in India. Clearly, the Galaxy Note 10+ is one of the best Android smartphones that are currently on offer.

Besides, the OnePlus 7 Pro is another device that is a worthy contender to this title. Due to the difference in price and specifications, it can be perplexing for the user which device should they pick. In order to simplify the process, we have written a detailed guide that will help you reach the decision and you will be able to pick the best device for yourself based on your requirements.

Design And Build

The front of Galaxy Note 10+ features a punch hole that houses the selfie camera, on the other hand, the OnePlus 7 Pro has a pop-up selfie camera. The front of the two smartphones have negligible bezels on all sides and have a display that tapers towards the sides.

The rear of both the Galaxy Note 10+ and OnePlus 7  Pro is made out of Glass which carries the company branding and the camera setup. Overall, both the devices are made out of premium materials including glass and metal and they seem to be equally well built.

Design is one department that is highly subjective and it varies based on every user’s preference, therefore it is not feasible to choose a clear winner. Hence, this is one department in which the user must choose their poison.

Display

The Galaxy Note 10+ features a 6.8 inch Dynamic AMOLED display that has a pixel density of 498ppi and is safeguarded with Corning Gorilla Glass 6. On the other hand, the OnePlus 7 Pro has a 6.67 inch Fluid AMOLED display. The display panel has a pixel density of 516 ppi and is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Both the size and pixel density of the display on the two smartphones are similar. However, one notable difference is the 90 Hz refresh rate of OnePlus 7 Pro’s display.

We are yet to get our hands on the Note 10+, nonetheless, we have already experienced the Galaxy S10 lineup that features the same display with a smaller size. The display on the device has excellent viewing angles and colour reproduction.

But, it cannot match the smoothness that the 90 Hz display panel that is found on the OnePlus 7 Pro. Therefore, we give this round to the OnePlus’ offering.

Battery

The battery is an important aspect of every smartphone and could be the key decisive factor for a large number of users. Fortunately, both smartphones are powered by large-sized batteries that support fast charging.

Earlier this week, Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 10+ which is targeted towards the premium segment.

The OnePlus 7 Pro is powered by a 4,000 mAh battery that supports 30 W Warp charging. In contrast, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ features 4300 mAh battery that supports 45 W fast charging.

Not only does the Samsung smartphone have a bigger battery and supports significantly faster-charging speeds, but it also supports wireless charging upto 20 W and reverse wireless charging. Therefore, the clear winner in this domain is the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+.

Chipset

The Galaxy Note 10+ features the Samsung made Exynos 9825 SoC while the OnePlus 7 Pro features the Snapdragon 855. Both the chipsets are manufactured using a 7 nm fabrication process and consist of an Octa-Core CPU.

In terms of performance, both devices are expected to have comparable performance. However, we will have to wait until we get the Note 10+ to compare it against the OnePlus 7 Pro.

[Note: the US variant of the Note 10+ packs Snapdragon 855, which is not being talked about in this article]

Storage

The Galaxy Note 10+ and the OnePlus 7 Pro are offered in two storage variants which are listed below:

Storage Variant 1 Storage Variant 2
OnePlus 6 GB RAM + 128 GB ROM 8 GB RAM + 256 GB ROM
Samsung 12 GB RAM + 256 GB ROM 12 GB + 512 GB ROM

We believe RAM capacities of upto 8 GB are more than sufficient to play any kind of applications including heavy games. However, as technology improves, graphics-intensive games including PUBG can benefit from additional RAM found on the Galaxy Note 10+.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ is available in upto 512 GB of inbuilt storage. Besides, it also supports memory expandability upto 1 TB via a microSD card.

The higher RAM capacity, option to choose more storage and support for memory expansion makes the Galaxy Note 10+ a better choice than the OnePlus 7 Pro in this area.

[Bonus Tip: Both smartphones use UFS 3.0 storage which offers comparatively faster read and write speeds]

Camera

The two devices in our comparison have a single camera on the front. As previously mentioned the OnePlus 7 Pro has a motorised pop-up camera that has a resolution of 16 MP while the Galaxy Note 10+ has a 10 MP sensor that has dual-pixel technology.

Both the smartphones have multi-camera setup on the back. The Note 10+ has a quad-camera setup which consists of a 12 MP + 12 MP + 16 MP +ToF sensor. In comparison, the OnePlus 7 Pro only has a triple camera setup which consists of 48 MP + 8 MP + 16 MP sensors.

The two devices can also capture upto 2160p videos @ 30 fps from the rear camera setup. Moreover, the front camera of the Galaxy Note 10+ can also capture 2160p video @ 30 fps while its competitor’s video capturing capability from the selfie camera is limited to 1080p @ 30 fps.

The presence of a ToF camera an better video output form selfie camera allows the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ to pull ahead of it competitor. At least on paper, the Samsung offering is superior to OnePlus but we will also test the camera on two once the Note 10+ starts shipping later this month.

Connectivity and Other Features

Connectivity options on Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ and OnePlus Pro are also alike. The two devices support 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac W-Fi, Dual LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC and USB Type C port.

The two flagship smartphones have an under-display fingerprint scanner which is a nifty feature. However, the Galaxy Note 10+ uses an ultrasonic sensor while the OnePlus 7 Pro employs an optical sensor.

Although sensors on both smartphones can instantly bypass the lock screen, the ultrasonic scanner found on the Note 10+ is regarded as more secure and reliable. It tends to work fine even if the user’s hands are smushed with dirt or oil.

The ultrasonic waves can penetrate such substances whereas an optical sensor won’t be able to match biometrics in case the user has an untidy finger.

Other notable features that the Galaxy Note 10+ offers that are absent on the OnePlus offering, include DeX, an Sp02 meter and S-Pen.

DeX is short for Desktop Experience, this feature can mirror the contents of the Galaxy Note 10+ on a large screen display. It utilises the phone hardware to produce a desktop-like experience possibly replacing a laptop or desktop computer in certain scenarios.

The SpO2 sensor stands for peripheral capillary oxygen saturation it is used to estimate the amount of oxygen in the blood. Therefore, users that have certain health conditions, this feature of Galaxy Note 10+ can be highly beneficial.

The Galaxy Note 10+ also ships with the all new S-Pen which adds a whole new dimension of wireless control to the device like remotely clicking pictures or navigating between apps.

As previously mentioned, both the devices are one of the best Android smartphones that money can buy. We have laid out all the differences in an easy to grasp manner so you can make the right choice based on your needs.

We feel the OnePlus 7 Pro offers better value in comparison to the Note 10+. However, if you are not constrained with a budget and you want a no holds barred phone that offers higher storage capacities, has several other bells and whistles like the S-Pen and absurdly fast 45 W fast charging, the Note 10+ has to be the device of your choice.

Both companies explained through their official channels that the recordings were transcribed to improve their respective voice assistants. Now, Apple and Google are reportedly shutting down the program which had contractors listen in on private conversations.

Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri are both voice assistants that occasionally sent voice recordings of their surroundings to their parent companies. The companies claimed that they had started the program of hiring contractors, who listened to the recordings, for the purpose of improving the user interaction with the voice assistants. As of today, Google and Apple have suspended their respective programs after facing backlash from the community and regulatory bodies.

Apple in a statement said that they wanted to conduct a global review of its program to retain trust users trust in privacy. Grading had third party contractors listen to the recordings from Siri. Now, users can opt-in for the program and participate in grading. Furthermore, Google after having faced allegations, after its Dutch user recording was leaked, has also suspended its voice assistant program. Its “Hey Google” wake word had inadvertently triggered and had recorded many private and sensitive moments. Hence, the company will review its program as well.

Notably, the concerns raised over user privacy have become an increasingly sensitive aspect in the European regions. It is expected that Governmental regulatory bodies will soon step in and investigate the matter separately. However, the issue has expanded to an international level and should require some form of mediation if carried forward.

LG Is Working On A Flexible Smartphone With Rollable Display https://www.igyaan.in/194169/lg-is-working-on-a-flexible-smartphone-with-rollable-display/ https://www.igyaan.in/194169/lg-is-working-on-a-flexible-smartphone-with-rollable-display/#respond Wed, 31 Jul 2019 05:48:37 +0000 https://www.igyaan.in/?p=194169 The year 2019 has seen many new innovations and trends popularised in the mainstream mobile industry. One of such innovative buzzwords surrounded flexible or foldable smartphones. Samsung with the Galaxy Fold was one of the first to reveal a functioning smartphone with a flexible display despite all its flaws. Now, LG is also reportedly jumping on the bandwagon to introduce its own flexible smartphone which may have a rollable display.

Samsung Galaxy Fold

LG has trademarked the name ‘LG Rolling’ with the South Korean Intellectual Property Office. Earlier this year, the South Korean company had also trademarked names such as ‘Roll Canvas’, ‘Rotolo’, ‘The Roll’, ‘E Roll’, ‘Dual Roll’, ‘Signature R’, ‘R Screen’, ‘R Canvas’, and ‘Bi Roll’ with the European Union Intellectual Property Office. Hence, it is speculated that an LG smartphone with a flexible rollable display is currently under development.

Foldable LG Phone Concept

Notably, LG has already used rollable displays in the past. The technology is currently employed on its Signature OLED TV R. As the name suggests, it is an OLED TV that was showcased at CES 2019. The Signature TV features a 65 inch OLED display that can roll back into the base when not in use. Previously, LG had confirmed that they were planning to work on a rollable and foldable smartphone after various reports and rumours surfaced.

The freshly granted patent suggests that LG’s rollable handset is currently in-development stages whiles its name is still undecided.

Conclusively, LG may probably not end up calling the device ‘Rolling’ but use the moniker to represent its key feature. Furthermore, the inclusion of the Signature TV technology in smartphones is a great step in innovation for the mobile industry. Foldable smartphones have already been made and seen but a rolling device could be the next big trend for the arriving year. Unfortunately, concrete information is still lacking but more news is expected to arrive soon, so stay tuned.

The Samsung Galaxy M20s Will Feature a Massive 5830 mAh Battery https://www.igyaan.in/194168/samsung-galaxy-m20s-5830-mah-battery/ https://www.igyaan.in/194168/samsung-galaxy-m20s-5830-mah-battery/#respond Wed, 31 Jul 2019 05:08:09 +0000 https://www.igyaan.in/?p=194168 In the Q1 of 2019, Samsung unveiled the all new Galaxy M lineup of smartphones which are targeted towards ‘millenials’. At the time of debut, the company introduced two smartphones that include the Galaxy M10 and the Galaxy M20. The former was targeted towards the entry level  segment whereas the latter was targetted towards mid range segment.

Samsung Galaxy M20 (for reference)

Accrediting to value for money, both the smartphones have turned out to be one of the best selling devices in their segment. Clearly, the company would want to further continue the success it has attained with these handsets.

Falling in to the foot steps of the original devices, Samsung is reportedly developing successors or upgraded variants of the smartphones. While there are hardly any details about the successor to the Galaxy M10, a crucial piece of information about the Galaxy M20’s successor has been revealed.

Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1

According to the a notable Dutch Blog, the Galaxy M20’s replacement device will be called the Galaxy M20s and it will pack a massive ‘5,830 mAh’ battery. In comparison to the original handset, this is considerable bump which packs a 5,000 mAh battery.

Noteworthy, the Asus Max Pro M1 from the year 2018 was one of the first smarpthones to incoporate a huge 5,000 mAh battery and that feature alone became its USP (Unique Selling Point). Therfore, we believe such a huge capacity battery can be a vital feature and can make the upcoming Galaxy M20s stand out of the crowd.

Besides, no other details like the specs or design of the smartphone are currently available. However, it is assumed that, like its predecessor, the Galaxy M20s will have a modern design with an edge-to-edge waterdrop notch display on the front. Moreover, RAM and ROM capacities on the Galaxy M20s will be similar to its competitors like the Redmi Note 7 Pro and Realme 3 Pro. Therfore, it is likely to be offered in two storage variants which include the following:

4 GB + 64 GB
6 GB + 128 GB

To sum it up, the Galaxy M20s is expected to be a worthy smarpthone in the mid range segment. However, in order to gain more details about it, we will have to wait until Samsung publically addresses it.

What are your thoughts on the Galaxy M20s that is reported to have a 5,830 mAh battery? Let us know in the comments below.

LG Trademarks A Slew Of Smartphones Including One Called The M10 https://www.igyaan.in/193298/lg-trademarks-m10-v60/ https://www.igyaan.in/193298/lg-trademarks-m10-v60/#respond Fri, 19 Jul 2019 13:07:25 +0000 https://www.igyaan.in/?p=193298 LG was one of the first companies to launch a smartphone with the Android operating system. In the early years of the decade, the company had delivered praiseworthy handsets like the Optimus One, LG G2, LG Nexus 4 which were highly popular amongst users across the globe. However, as Chinese OEMs like Xiaomi, Oppo and Huawei started selling value for money devices at marginalised profits, long-settled companies like Sony, LG and HTC had to fall back.

Nevertheless, after devising new strategies, LG once again entered the budget and mid-range smartphone arena with the “W” series of smartphones that debuted in India last month.

Subsequently, LG is expected to launch a variety of new devices in its home country which will be a part of a brand new “M” lineup. The company had filed numerous trademarks with KIPRIS (Korean Intellectual Property Rights Information Service) under the category 9 that deals with “mobile phone and smartphones”.

The first handset in the trademark is dubbed the “M10” which coincidentally matches the moniker of a smartphone made by another Korean Giant, Samsung and the device name is Galaxy M10. Therefore, it is possible that the upcoming LG smartphone will be targetted towards the budget segment. Furthermore, the company may even launch smartphones like M20, M30, etc in the distant future.

Other than that, the company had previously filed trademarks for the V60 and V70 labels which have now been granted. Going by chronological order, these smartphones will succeed the LG V50 ThinQ which was launched earlier this year. Taking into consideration, that Samsung and Apple are yet to reveal flagship devices in the near future which will be the Galaxy Note 10 lineup and 2019 iPhone lineup in respective order. Hence, it is possible that LG launches the V60 or V70 later this year to compete with these devices.

All in all, LG may be planning a proper comeback in the smartphone business. However, in order to verify the claims and theories, we will have to wait until LG officially spreads some light on its future plans.
