Instagram Is Adding ‘Recommended Posts’ To The Feed
Instagram is chopping and changing the way people consume content on Instagram again. Recently, the social networking app enabled users to follow certain ‘hashtags’ of their interests. Now, the platform is adding ‘Recommended For You’ feature to everyone’s feed as well.
“Recommended for You” has been rolling out to a few Instagram users over the past few days. However, the company has officially announced the feature in a new Help document. Instagram has explained that the posts that appear in this section are based on posts liked by the other accounts that the user follows.
When scrolling through Feed, you may see posts that are Recommended for You. These posts are suggested based on posts liked by accounts you follow.
The users have the ability to temporarily remove the recommended posts by clicking on the three dots next to a recommended post. However, it is worth noting that this is a temporary fix and Instagram has not specified the amount of time for which the posts of this manner will be disabled.
In 2016, Instagram changed the way people consumed content as well. Instead of the usual chronological feed, Instagram introduced a new algorithmic way of using Instagram. The new feed used machine learning to create a more personalised feed based on what it thinks a user will enjoy more, based on their past actions.
This new feature will be another change in the way Instagram functions and it will be seen how regular Instagram users will react to it.
