Nokia 7 To Be Launched On 31st October
HMD Global owned Nokia is planning to launch a new phone in India on 31st of October. The company has sent out press invites which reads, “HMD Global invites you to an exclusive gathering to unveil the next milestone for Nokia phones.” Nokia 7 was launched in China on the 20th of October and could launch the latest smartphone in India.
Nokia 7 is a mid-range smartphone, and is priced at 2499 yuan (Rs 24000 approx.) for the 4GB RAM variant in China. The 6GB RAM variant is priced at 2699 yuan (Rs 26000 approx.). Considering HMD Global’s competitive pricing of the Nokia 8, the Nokia 7 could launch in India under the Rs 25000 price bracket where there isn’t a lot of competition. However, the Moto X4 is expected to be priced in the same price bracket of Rs 22000-Rs 25000.

The Nokia 7 has a 5.2 inch IPS LCD display with a 1920 x 1080 px resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top for protection. Powering the smartphone is a 3000 mAh battery and it runs Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. Under the hood, the device has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset, octa-core 2.2 GHz Cortex-A53 processor, 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB onboard storage which can be expanded up to 256GB via microSD card. Unlike the Nokia 8, and all previous Nokia Android phones, there is no physical home button on the front of the device. The fingerprint sensor is placed at the back of the phone just below the camera.
The Nokia 7, unlike the Nokia 8 has a single camera at the back. The Nokia 7 has a 16MP camera at the back with an f/1.8 aperture, 1.12-micron pixel size and Carl Zeiss optics. The primary camera records 3840 x 2160 px (4K) videos at 30fps. On the front of the device is a 5MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture and autofocus.
Similar to the Nokia 8, the Nokia 7 also comes with all the bells and whistles. One such feature is “Bothie.” It allows you to use the front and rear camera at the same time in a split screen view. Another feature that the smartphone boasts is called OZO Audio in which the smartphone’s three microphones and Nokia’s acoustic algorithms allow you to capture 360-degree spatial surround sound. You can also share 4K videos with OZO audio with anyone – binaural codecs ensure high fidelity playback even on devices without OZO Audio.
HMD Global might launch the Nokia 7 in India with a price tag similar to its China variant. However, there is no official word from the company as of yet. The price and availability of the phone will be officially announced on 31st of October during the launch event.
