Idea Cellular Announces a 550 Crore Rupee Investment in UP
Idea Cellular has announced an investment of Rs. 550 crores in Uttar Pradesh over the next two years. Hoping for support from Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav, the third biggest telecom company has decided to increase its investment from the current Rs.4,400 rupees.
Idea Cellular’s Managing Director Himanshu Kapania says, “Out of the total investment of Rs. 42,000 crores that Idea has made across the country, 11 percent of the investment has come to UP”. Stats further show that the telecom operator is present in about 82% cities of the state. It now plans to increase its consumers to 95%.
Kapania further comments, “”If you want to reach Internet to every nook and corner of UP, we have to put up fibre and we are requesting the UP government to issue a forward-looking RoW policy, which is currently pending across most states. We are hoping this state would be on the forefront in supporting us”.
