Due to some serious durability issues, the company kept pushing back the actual launch date of its first foldable handset. However, it announced a few weeks ago that the upcoming smartphone is almost ready for primetime. If leaks are to be believed, the Galaxy Fold may see the light of the day on the 6th of September.

To recall, the Samsung Galaxy Fold features an innovative folding mechanism which folds inwards. There is a 4.6-inch display on the outside and a 7.2-inch display inside. The smartphone runs on the Snapdragon 855 SoC combined with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. Pricing for the handset remains the same, that is US$ 1980 (INR 1,42,000).

The devices may already be getting their successors in the form of the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro on the 26th September. According to previous leaks and reports, the upcoming smartphones will feature a similar design to their predecessors. The real upgrade will be in terms of specifications. • Upcoming PUBG Mobile Update Will Add Helicopters, RPGs And Combat Vehicles

Upcoming PUBG Mobile Update Will Add Helicopters, RPGs And Combat Vehicles

PUBG Mobile has seen massive success across the globe. The credit to Tencent Games’ mobile port is definitely its hardworking developers that brought popular battle royale franchise to handheld devices. But, a multiplayer game is only alive as long as the game is constantly updated with new content and features. Hence, a bold new update is bringing the fight from the skies with helicopters soon being added to the game.

    PUBG Mobile

    New Vehicles

Previously, Tencent Games had confirmed that it was working on a rework of the map Erangel for PUBG Mobile which was first introduced in PUBG PC. Now, the company is further expanding on that update by also rolling out new types of vehicles that bring an entirely new dimension of aerial combat. The helicopter itself seems to bear resemblance to the real-life Boeing AH-6 Light Helicopter.

    PUBG Mobile

It can be found on a helipad on top of School in Erangel and is currently in the beta version of the Chinese build of PUBG Mobile. Furthermore, a new BRDM combat ground vehicle will be added to the game which was also first seen in PUBG PC. BRDM is a vehicle that is extremely durable against gunfire and explosions and can travel both on land and water.

    New Weapons

PUBG Mobile’s update that brings the helicopters may turn the tide heavily in the favour of those that get to the chopper first. However, gamers do not worry as Tencent is also adding a bunch of new guns to counter the flying vehicle. In the new update, a homing missile launcher will be present to make sure the hail of bullets from above do not win from mere advantageous positioning.

It means that both the team on the ground and the ones flying in the sky need to keep an eye on each others movement. Other guns such as a grenade launcher is also being added and will be one of the go to weapons against BRDM users in PUBG Mobile. Unfortunately, it is currently unknown when the feature goes live since it is only available in China, but a global launch is expected to arrive soon.

Realme XT Confirmed To Arrive Before Diwali With A 64MP Quad Camera

On 20th of August 2019, Realme unveiled its Realme 5 series of smartphones which will debut in India. The event saw details regarding the devices and gave us a slight glimpse of what to expect in the near future. Previously, we had reported about an upcoming Realme smartphone with 64MP quad camera setup. Now, it has been confirmed by the company that the device will be called Realme XT.

    Realme XT

    What To Expect
    • A 64MP Quad Camera Setup:
Realme has already confirmed that the Realme XT will feature a quad camera setup with the primary camera being a 64MP sensor. Samsung launched the ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor is the only sensor that fits the criteria. Hence, it is quite possible that Realme XT will feature this sensor. Unfortunately, it is not known what purpose the other three cameras serve. However, since Realme 5 Pro features an 8MP wide angle lens alongside a 2MP macro camera and 2MP depth sensor, similar sensors might also be found on the XT. Additionally, the smartphone may also house a popup selfie camera similar to its sibling, the Realme X.
    Realme XT
    Realme X Spiderman Edition
    • AMOLED Display:
Earlier this year, Realme X was launched with a 6.53 inch AMOLED display. Furthermore, since the upcoming Realme XT is a beefed up variant of the same series, it is likely to sport an AMOLED panel. Notably, the company had teased a silhouette of the Realme XT which did not reveal a rear mounted fingerprint scanner. Thus, an in display sensor which is also present on the Realme X may make a reappearance.

    Realme XT

    • Better Internals:
The exact specifications of the Realme XT is currently a mystery. However, there is a high chance of it being a premium grade flagship smartphone. A Snapdragon 855+ device from Realme is expected to arrive soon and it might be the XT since Realme X was launched with Snapdragon 710 and was an upper mid range smartphone.

It means that we can expect a September-October launch date.

  • Huawei To Introduce Its Own Mapping System To Compete With Google Maps

Huawei To Introduce Its Own Mapping System To Compete With Google Maps

With the advent of newer technology, lives have become easier. For example, unlike in the past where you had to ask for directions or use an unyieldingly large map, online mapping services have existed to make lives easier. Currently, Google dominates such a service with its extremely popular Google Maps. Many companies have tried to obtain a footing in the market like Apple and Blackberry, the latter miserably failing in this regard. According to a new report, Huawei is now also seeking to develop its own mapping service which will compete with Google Maps.

    Huawei

    Who Is It For?

A fresh report originating from Huawei’s home country, China, has stated that the tech giant is seeking to challenge Google. However, the company is developing a mapping service which differs from its competitors. Unlike Google Maps, it is reportedly being made for developers which implies that it may be used by navigation or taxi-hailing services. It would also allow third-party developers to create utilize this service without creating their own.

    Huawei
    Google Maps
    Map Kit

A top executive at Huawei has revealed Map Kit as the name of the upcoming service. It will offer developers a street-level navigation system that they can use in their respective apps. Map Kit will also convey real-time traffic conditions and other related data. It could also imply an AR walking navigational system which is used by Google. Furthermore, the Map Kit will be connected to local mapping services and will have to rely on telecom base stations that offer positioning data via satellites.

    Huawei
    Google Maps AR Navigational Feature
    Will It Succeed?

The report also states that Huawei is partnering up with Booking Holdings. Notably, Booking is currently reliant on Google Maps. Hence Map Kit might just be a customer and not actually a data provider. Huawei will have to invest heavily to compete in the mapping service market which has been notoriously difficult to crack. As mentioned earlier, Google is the only company to see success in the business while even Apple is lagging behind the search giant. Nokia too had tried and failed with its Here Maps as did Blackberry in the past.

Why Is Huawei Making Map Kit?

Huawei’s new mapping service is probably in response to the trade ban imposed on it by the US Government. The trade ban it had received has since been temporarily revoked but its implications still stand evident. US and western-based companies can cut ties from the company at any given moment. Thus, the move arrives with a more self-sufficient motive rather than just a revenue-generating one.

IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung) 2019 in Berlin, Germany is just around the corner kicking off on 6th September 2019. The original Black Shark was launched in the year 2018 which was subsequently followed by a higher specced version named the Black Shark Helo. Similarly, Xiaomi is planning on releasing a Black Shark 2 Pro variant which may sport the latest Snapdragon 855 Plus.

However, Qualcomm’s latest and fastest processor, the Snapdragon 855 Plus, maybe a notable inclusion within the upcoming device. The new mobile chipset was unveiled this week and devices carrying it are expected to soon be seen. So it is highly probable that Xiaomi would also do the same. Furthermore, the company can also opt to add on a higher refresh rate display panel on the device for a higher price point.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 Plus is currently its fastest SoC for premium grade smartphones and boasts a 15% boost in performance over the base SD855. Many OEMs are already planning to introduce the new mobile chipset to their respective handsets which include the upcoming updated Red Magic 3 and Asus ROG Phone 2.

Besides having an upgraded chipset, the Black Shark 2 Pro may also get a 3.5 mm audio jack which was eliminated from the original handset. This upgrade will definitely be embraced by professional gamers, who use purpose-built gaming headphone that require the said connector.

The nature of the secondary lens was, in most cases, merely to supplement the primary camera. Like an actual periscope, the secondary lens will be set one optical axis perpendicular to the main lens light axis. It enables the befitting of a periscope assist lens directly on the main sensor. In simpler words, the new periscope lens can be incorporated within the main camera without having to increase the lens thickness. Thus, Xiaomi fans can soon expect to see a 5x optical to 10x hybrid zoom on the Mi Mix 4.
