Micromax A90 Superfone Pixel Full Review
Build Quality and Design
The first thing you will notice when you look at the A90 is that it is notoriously similar to the Galaxy S2. It has a Gorilla Glass front with no physical buttons. There is a textured back panel which feels nice to touch and adds a bit of extra grip but squeaks a little when pressed. Overall, the device is very lightweight but is solidly built and has a very premium feel to it. It fits comfortably in your hands.
Hardware
Now, there has been a lot of confusion over the hardware the phone employs. In the front there is a 4.3″ super AMOLED screen which is hands down the best you will find in this price bracket. It delivers crisp texts, accurate colours and great viewing angles.
This Dual-Sim phone is powered by a MediaTek MT675 combined with a PowerVR SGX 531 GPU with a single core humming at 1GHz and 512 of RAM. We found that the processor is sluggish and the phone tends to slow down slightly when heavy applications are used.
On the back is an 8-megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED flash which records 720p video, a 0.3 MP front facing camera and 4GB of on-board storage with up to 32GB microSD support. It is powered by a 1600 mAh battery.
Camera
The 8MP camera is great. The picture quality is amazing in daylight but there is apparent noise when taken in low lighting and with flash. Still, one of the best in this segment. The video recording is also good at 720p in 3gp format.
Display, Audio and Internet
As mentioned above the Super Amoled display is crisp and vibrant. Outdoor visibility is also great but the letdown being that the screen has only 3 multi-touch points which hampers the gaming experience. It comes with stock Android Ice Cream sandwich with not much customization done by Micromax.
The Audio quality of the phone is excellent. It delivers loud and clear audio and the overall multimedia experience was great. Videos up to 720p run smoothly on the device. You can run high frame rate 1080p videos on the A90 using some media apps available in the Google Play Store.
The stock browser on the device is decent. It is fast, smooth with pinch to zoom and kinetic scrolling work well. As it runs Ice Cream Sandwich, you could of course download better browsers like the Google Chrome to suit your needs.

Phone, Messaging and Network
The phone and network quality are great. No calls were dropped and the quality of both the speaker and the headset were great. It has dual sim capabilities, with one 3G sim and one 2G sim.
Messaging on the device is excellent. The keyboard is responsive and well laid out. Though the keyboard feels slightly crammed in portrait mode.
AISHA!
Surprise! The A90 comes with AISHA or Artificial Intelligence Speech Handset Assistant. An added bonus, we found that AISHA was able to deliver a good performance. It seemed more accustomed to understanding the Indian accent than Apple’s SIRI.
Conclusion
Overall, the A90 is a phone hard to flaw, given the price that it comes at. The only drawback we could find was the slightly sluggish performance of the processor. Though, the build is excellent, the screen is crisp and the audio quality is brilliant. And to top it all, it has dual sim capabilities. Definitely, as I’ve already stated above, one of the best in this price bracket.
