i had delayed my purchase of HTC wildefire for defy, just did not wanted to go for crappy low resolution screen of wildefire. and the next best thing HTC desire was out of my reach. motorola defy fit well in my requirement of “all goodies in 1 phone” but wont cont a bomb, but alas..

awesome news… but i did read on some blog that it was launched in Kolkota for 15K !!!

  • http://abhijeetdeb.com Abhijeet Deb

Could you tell us what will be the device priced at?

  • http://abhijeetdeb.com Abhijeet Deb

    Let’s hope so. Fingers crossed!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_E65EFKTFVGVS5XXMZIEM4RBEDA ChetaN

Somebody please tell when this phone might be launching. I am losing My patience waiting for this Device.

  • S N Maran

Here’s what I think — assuming Motorola indeed wants to launch this device, they want to do this at the right price point keeping in mind the new market realities. The premium one pays for a smartphone has come down a lot over the past twelve months.

They want to price this right, but they still have the original Milestone floating in the market selling for over Rs. 20K, even over Rs. 25K at some places. If you look at the RAM, storage, processor etc the Defy is higher spec-ed than the Milestone. I would say it is safe to assume that the market forces are not willing to cut the profit margin on the Milestone and sell it at a cheaper rate than the Defy. Moto is negotiating with the distributors, and thus the delay in the launch. I would also go so far as to say that they are perhaps keeping an eye open for creating an entry point for the Milestone-2 in the future. You already have the HTC Desire-Z in the market at a price that would have been impossible just 12 months ago.

  • Lak2004mi

    13-1-11….where…is ….the…ph???

  • Venkatvijay1

I am a local Moto Distributor, got information this month we are getting stocks 100%, already placed the order quantity required, I am from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. 9000986633

  • http://www.iGyaan.in Bharat Nagpal

    its coming in 3 – 4 days

  • http://abhijeetdeb.com Abhijeet Deb

@iGyaan: Can someone your team get some update from the ‘source’ about the launch date and pricing? I almost bought an unlocked piece before I saw this article! Its already been a few days since the alleged release date. I would prefer to buy a piece without a T-Mobile or Telstra logo on it. However, it’s good to know that if it launches, it will launch with Froyo; don’t care much about MotoBlur!

  • guest

where is the phone no info till today…………?????????????? where it is mr nagpal ji????

  • Sunil

where the hell has the phone disappered.

  • S N Maran

you say “there has already been a soft launch of the device”.

what exactly is a “soft launch”?

  • Gautham47

where is the defy?????????? Its 12-1-11

  • Sa_1

    It’s 11-1-11 ,23:15 IST ..where is the phone…..

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_E65EFKTFVGVS5XXMZIEM4RBEDA ChetaN

    So true.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_E65EFKTFVGVS5XXMZIEM4RBEDA ChetaN

Hope what you say is true.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_E65EFKTFVGVS5XXMZIEM4RBEDA ChetaN

Man I am so desperately waiting for this device. There were no good android devices in the 18k range. after 13k they were directly at 23k. this device fills the gap perfectly. This phone had earpiece issues when launched abroad. guess that’s why its launch is being delayed here as they might be solving it. Hope they launch here soon. Keeping fingers crossed.

  • Raghunandanjv

Can anybody let us know what’s the exact status on this? I didn’t buy htc wildfire just for this phone.

  • http://twitter.com/virgo_sabby Saurabh

    Hey,
Its launching now on 11-1-11 definitely.
Its a Tuesday and most Motorola’s launches are on Tuesday’s in India.

Lets just keep patience for the best in the Game .:-)

  • Sabby008

Why scrutinize MOTO…theirs informer is crap.

  • jimjam

what a waste of time ??? its 9 and no launch
was ur insider talking about january 2012 ????????

  • Raghunandanjv

Its already 8th and still thr is any news…. Motorola is always delays thr launches never on time

  • http://cityblogger.com Prakash

Where is this phone? Its already the 7th. Been waiting for it since the last 2 months it got launched in the US.

Firmware is upgraded to 2.2 in the next few months.

Indian edition is likely to have good maps from mapmyindia.com.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_E65EFKTFVGVS5XXMZIEM4RBEDA ChetaN

I am waiting desperately for this device. This phone was reported to have Earphone issues in Germany and Europe by many customers. Hope the issue has been solved.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_E65EFKTFVGVS5XXMZIEM4RBEDA ChetaN

Hi Tarun. Do You mean to Install Custom ROMs for Defy ?

  • AB

This is a phone that i am looking forward to. Hope Igyaan is right about its launch. If not we can always get it from Singapre for about 500 SGD. I am sure it does not have Android 2.2 but custom Froyo ROMs are already being worked upon.

  • Santhosh

Hey but in ASIA PACIFIC they have mentioned that defy will be upgraded to 2.2 in Q2…

    https://supportforums.motorola.com/community/manager/softwareupgrades

  • Santhosh

Great news. Hope it turns out to be true…
I am a fan of this phone right from when it got listed in phonearena!!!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_24QXHGDI5FVZH3J66O7VJFVFOI tarun k s jadoein

hardware is awesome and firmware can be easily upgraded…..
no support required from motorola for firmware

  • S N Maran

I don’t think it will come with MotoBlur. Plus I am not sure about Android 2.2 either, I would say that Android 2.1 sounds more like it. Anyway, this is a very good phone for Indian conditions. I am going to buy it it this news indeed turns out to be true.

  • Khamoshpathak

I am so looking forward to buying this phone.. if it releases on 7th jan.. i’ll be one of the first people to buy it. really hope it really does launch here on this date and the price is around 18000…
