htc desire hd iG Exclusive : HTC Desire HD, INDIA, Price or Rumor

Well we have this information for some time now and, the reason, we were refraining to post it, we couldn’t verify the authenticity of the report.

The Upcoming HTC Desire HD is Set to launch on 10 Dec 2010 or sooner. But, pricing information is yet to be released. A week back, iGyaan got an inside tip the the Desire HD would be priced competitively, How Much You ask?

Well, we did a bit of digging around and it appears that HTC is planning to take the market with storm Next year : 2011: Their strategy is to drop quality phones at prices you wouldn’t expect. The Result: a strong and deadly blow to competition (read: Samsung, Motorola and even the iPhone).

Two different Sources at HTC confirmed, that with a new process of build technology exclusive to HTC’s products, their three new facilities in China were able to churn out more devices at a seeming less cost. (“Tell us the price already”, You say?).

Now we still weren’t able to confirm on pricing, But, after talking to 11 different representatives at HTC and several marketing and distribution channels, we found out whats written below.

The HTC Desire HD will have a box MRP. of 34,000 INR. But, that means it will sell for cheaper, much cheaper. Two of those 11 execs said that HTC plans it to be sub 30K, a couple others said even as low as 27,000 INR. Delhi Distribution channels confirmed this, But added, “Most likely the phone will be launched at a higher price, say 33-34K, but within 10 days HTC plans to bring it to sub-30,000 Price.”

So, if this device does launch at Rs. 27,000 , folks, this will definitely be a game changer from HTC! And if it launches at 33-34K our recommendation is wait it out till hype drops and so will the price.

But, can we truly wait another 10 days, we think not?

  • Shethsa

Vishal – last week of Dec, thats what they told me. If pricing is anything more than 33k, better to go in for ordering from the UK with a bundle of 5 free accessories for 430 quid

  • Rahulkhuranaa

    with Bill…

  • visitor

and what about desire HD ???

  • http://www.iGyaan.in Bharat Nagpal

There is a dispute b/w the distributors and HTC about HD7 pricing. Distributors dont like the 32k price especially when its available in the US for 22k INR off contract and TMOBILE unlocks it for free. We should have a device latest by Sunday.

  • shethsa

    That’s terrible Ravi.
I called up some dealers and they said by 15th Dec.
Now if it doesn’t come by then, I’ll just go for grey market piece. How long can one wait after all.

  • Srini

Phulese! .. if you get it at that price in anywhere in India.. I would be the first one to pick it up!… Just asked for the price in Malaysia 2 days ago.. it was about 45K!!!!

  • Ravipbkr

  • shethsa

Not yet in heera panna :(

  • Sunnydhln

no thy r saying it’ll reach by tomorrow

  • Mail2rks

Any Idea whether it has reached the distributors?

  • Sunnydhln

is DHD launching today or not?

  • Abhinav

guys .. if we r speculating the price of desire hd to drop at around 28k.. where will the original desire be placed after that?.. do u think htc will reduce the price of the original desire too ?

  • dev

No, you’re getting it wrong again, you cant just say that AMOLED or SAMOLED is superior to SLCD, nope, each has its pros and cons, i too have the galaxy s and pardon me the colors are vivid but over saturated, the darks are good but the light shade’s are dark too!!! and we cant debate on this, samsung wants to play monopoly games, they aint producing enough SAMOLED for others to purchase, that being the reason for htc’s switch from AMOLED to SLCD!! Why else do you think htc wont put AMOLED in DHD!!

there was shortage of android phones earlier because android merely existed:). Android 1.5 and 1.6 were so weakly compiled to compete other os in the market, but as of now when google brought us with Android 2.2, i think it will beat even windows phone 7(since android is open source) and even companies like micromax are porting android in their phones, i dont think shortage should be a concern to lower down prices of DHD infact android has too big app market, remember!!

Well, i think you are cutting down dhd price by asking them to degrade their phone from DLNA to tv-out. IS IT?? HTC IS PROVIDING YOU WITH LATEST AND SUPERIOR FEATURES OF PHONE- FASTEST PROCESSOR, BIGGEST SCREEN, HIGH AMOUNT OF RAM, FULLY FUTURE UPGRADABLE+htcsense.com, this is my point, this is why its pricing should be high!! and if you think i am overpricing it, perhaps it was all these points i kept in mind!! :))

p.s- btw no im not from mumbai, i reside in indore!!

  • http://epicwhale.org Dayson Pais

Well yes, it is an SLCD. Remember the htc desire itself had AMOLED which is a more superior screen than the present desire hd.

My point 3 was the shortage of android 2.2 phones in the Indian market. Well, the strongest of Nokia phone’s can break in Mumbai (if you happen to be from here) in the train rides, rains & what not.

Also, “tv out” was just a feature which could have been there like the predecessors. And, the % of DLNA enabled tv’s in india is very very low compared to the US/UK markets. Point being, I have an LCD which I can connect the galaxy to but not the desire hd.

If you are willing to pay 40k for this phone, you really need to rethink it. Honestly, would be a foolish buy.

dis all possible only due grt team of iGyaan and all d members who keep on updating any info of DHD as soon as they came to know
All u guys are really grt n u r d only hope for us

  • Sunnydhln

yes Visitor is correct earlier the image is of some other mobile

  • Sunnydhln

n one more thing that DHD comes with a class 4 8 GB microsd card

  • zain

    hey
if u guys so interested in buying the phone buy it from http://www.expansys.com, its for Rs31000 change over there and delivery within 3-4 days via fedex

  • Visitor

@Abinav: The pic has been corrected. May be you missed it that time.

  • dev

Your first point is completely wrong pal, its not simple lcd its super LCD(huge difference between both).

About your second point, sorry to say dear but “Tv out” is going obsolete nowadays, its not a big issue.

I didnt quite understand your third point?? DHD comes with Froyo and is very much upgradable to gingerbread (768mb ram is sufficient for gingerbread)….

Who wants some stupid pouch or a case with it, i mean it all takes away the phones stunning look, and im laughing really loud man.. u r not sure about phones durability??? check out some reviews, its aluminium unibody unlike samsung galxy s which uses cheap plastic that bends so easily cracking the screen when you pull out its back cover!!!!

i am not too rich but i am seriously willing to pay 40k because its just not the phone, thay are providing something useful to you and you know its “htcsense.com” im talking about!!! consider it!! :))

  • Sunnydhln

is it really true ? just tell me man , i don’t care what ever will be d price m gona buy dis hell of a set on d very 1st day

  • Mailme Nandyshot

good news : the last week of wait for the desire HD, its launching in Delhi within this week….. cheers

  • Abinav

Igyaan guys I hope this info is right.

Been waiting for this phone too long.

Pricing of 30k to 35k is quite reasonable I guess coz of the new processor, screen size and the 8mp camera. But you might weigh out that the screen type is regular LCD and battery is a low AmH. Also, guys who were not able to wait for the phone to launch officially in India went ahead and ordered from UK and are playing around with the phone. Heard the HTCSence is really awesome and can be fully controlled. So basically if you ordered from UK and paid the customs the general cost of the phone 33K +2K (customs) . To sum that up I guess the phone is going to be around 30K to 35K.

Please keep updating us with info guys.

    Good Luck.

  • Abinav

Are you aware of the HTC Desire HD and have you seen the pic before.
Igyaan has posted the right picture.

  • sl

all that being said, a 4k drop in 10 days would still, certainly not go down well with me !!…..guess its coz i dont like to change phones every time a new one comes out…..thats jus me…..common sense dictates stickin with ur original suggestion of waiting until its marked down to atleast 30k

  • http://epicwhale.org Dayson Pais

Well, 27k is highly unlikely. Don’t expect that for months. But 30k sounds likely in 10 days. Anything below 30k, then you’ve to wait for this phone to be a “little outdated”.

Remember, it will be the best android phone in the Indian market. (and also in popular parts of the world)

  • Sunnydhln

iGyaan is d only site which giving vital info of DHD , n believe me from last two weeks i havn’t closed dis site even for a sec and keep on refreshing it psychically

  • Visitor

Come on IG, the pic in this post is not of HTC Desire HD. The device in pic is winmo (may be HTC HD).

  • Sunnydhln
  • Sunnydhln

does Desire HD is worthwhile waiting or we can also go for the original Desire?

  • sl

Totally agree with you Dayson !….also can or will HTC intentionally drop the price so considerably in ten days ??…..especially when according to the article they intend on carving a place for themselves in the indian market with competitively priced phones…..dropping from 34k to 30k in 10 days is drastic enough !….dropping it from 34k to 27k would really make a lot of people very mad….remember when the Nokia N95 was released for 35k and then dropped to 32k a week later…..really made me mad !!!

  • http://www.iGyaan.in Bharat Nagpal

    it will be unlocked

  • Abhinav

i was just stepping out of my home to buy the desire..then i saw this article..this better be true!..my hopes are high..bcoz this is the only website having some news regarding the launch of desire hd in India.

  • http://epicwhale.org Dayson Pais

Great update. I would competitively price the Desire HD at Rs. 28-29k. Please do not buy it above 30k, it has to fall down. Unless you feel very rich. My valid reasons being:

    1. The plain LCD screen instead of an LED (Amoled or SuperAmoled)

    2. No tv output cable. I agree it has DLNA, but very few people have tv’s that support dlna. Moreover, the dlna link device by htc will never launch in india + it costs around 5000

    3. Android 2.2 update has already hit the galaxy s phones. The desire hd is barely differentiating anymore. It’s only pros being the larger screen(many wont like this), faster processor, more RAM and the sense UI.

    4. You got to leave some space to buy casing or some cover for this phone. Does this phone come with a microsd in the box?

Besides, I’m not sure about the durability of this phone. There is no stress test video out there. Not sure about its screen + body strength.

  • Navkaranchadha

I confirmed with a local vendor right now.
He says he has sure info that desire hd is 34-35k. and that the desire z will launch no where before jan.

    Anyone got any other news

  • Navkaranchadha

Can u please get any info about htc desire z? Any at all.?
U cant even imagine how eagerly im waiting for this phone.

  • Sunnydhln

does Desire HD will be locked to vodafone or we can also buy the unlocked version??

  • shethsa

fresh update from grey mkt buzz in mumbai: Grey mkt price has crashed from 40k to 36k today (1st Dec) indicating upcoming launch. 2 sources phoned up somebody in front of me & confirmed that launch is on 5-Dec (i.e. by Monday) at a price of around 32k. I will wait.

  • Sunnydhln

i m getin desperate to get my hands on it , i waited so long for this device

  • Sunnyhdln
