@Rohit: U will be having the update provided by spice...u can use that.... otherwise if u specifically want .nB0 file do this.... 1. Download universal extractor from http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Universal-Extractor-Download-56951.html 2. Install & open the program 3. Now unzip the update package provided by spice 4. Using universal extractor extract Software Update Tool Setup under X86 folder of the update 5. U will get an .nb0 file after extracting...thats all u r done

can anyone please tell me how can i take backup of my 2.1 update provided by spice because I want to install firetrap sugar. please tell in steps and detail if possible. thanks in advance

@Nakul: Did you back up the original ROM by clockworkmod or by the method given by albert?

@Saurabh: Yeah....but i think you dont need anything beyond 2.2.....2.2 is enough for Mi300 hardware....it will use its hardware to it extreme....and our well known cyanogenmod will use every single bit of this hot piece...!!!

@ REHAAN Cant wait for 2.2.... Will be best when the processing speed will increase by 5X nd ram utilisation by 20X in froyo.Also tethering & app 2 sd card are gr8 features.....but till when we will be getting this update.......Can u tell me rehaan u belong to which city...???

Tried Firetrap sugar 1.2 and Cmleclair... Both are awesome... 600MHz :)

@Nakul: How did you find Firetrap vs CMLEclair? I am on CMLEclair. Wondering how Firetrap differs and what the advantages/disadvantages are.

@Rehaan: Can't wait!! BTW, I got ClockworkMod recovery onto my phone. Now, when I decided to try firetrap (or CMLEclair) it looks like RUT does not work with the custom recovery. Is that the case? RUT detects the phone alright but fails with an error after I click the next button. I didn't save the error but it was something about "switch to " failed.

Last night, i tried another ROM, CMLeclair.....and its much better than the previous firetrap sugar 1.1.....!!! also there is an upgrade to firetrap 1.2 on boston-mania.blogspot.com

@Nakul: Dear Nakul, Thanks for Reply. I want to see contact search in Dialer/Phone only. It works in Andoroid 2.1 in Galaxy. IN Mi-300 also there are alphabets printed on dialpad that means it should search contacts? What you say?

@Anurag: Try Gesture Search from Google for searching contacts........

Do you want to get rid of hyphenated contacts like US style. (-) in contacts.. Download Morelocale2 from Market and make a new Local India with language en and Country India. :)

@ Sumit If u want a android 2.1 phone below 10000 with average music quality,brilliant touchscreen & display $ a camera better then 3.2MP but less then 5MP,then this is the phone for u.It does not have FM

Hello everybody After upgrade to 2.1 i dont see Dialer application. It is only Phone. But in Phone i dial digits it doesn't match pattern but types digit. It doesnt find matching pattern. It is become Major handicap. Phone's basic use is to make call easily but it seems to be demoted. Please help.

Can you please tell me the process how you updated from donut 1.6 to eclair 2.1 as i m trying to upadte it via the update available at spice’s website, but during update procedure after 5-10 minutes(80% update completed)it says that updating encountered a problem please remove battery and reconnect again while pressing up volume key, camera button and power button. i done the same but again same problem. I tried 3-4 times but its giving same problem again and again. Its valuable if anyone provide detailed procedure in steps. anyole who upadted also welcomed to answer it…. thanks in advance

@Albert: when i try to go to recovery mode the black screen splashes with no icon or file just plain black screen the the spice logo comes again n phone starts....no recovery mode...

akshit u have to press camera button very hard + volume up and then power button keep holding them until u get vibration i think u will see spice logo and then recovery console

In my upgraded 2.1 mi-300 only one type of contact i.e. Google Contacts. And in Phone applicaiton it doest find/search any contacts like it used to do in Dialer application in 1.6 !! Please help Urgently.

@ Anurag I was also having same problem.Go to contacts & in menu go to display options.Select the google contacts,once u do so it will display a list of options.Select all and u r done

It didnt work. I think you didnt understood me :( I can see contacts no problem. When i got Phone and type characters it should find matching contacts. But it doesnt do that. It just types numeric characters.

as I have heard skype works on wi-fi/edge/3G/gprs. in US, providers tried to block skype from using 3g/edge, but smart android geeks found a way out.

@Albert: Actually I havent updated my phone to android 2.1 yet, first of all i could not able to update my phone to 2.1. thats what my main problem

updating MI-300 from 1.6 to 2.1 should be an issue, I have not faced any problem in this regard. All i did was to download 150mb zip file from spice website and unzipped it and triggered the setup.exe. If you are not able to do it, then get it done from spice service center, the phone must be still under warranty.

@Albert: I tried in the same way many times but still the i m not able to boot it in to recovery mode,is rooting the phone will make it not to make into recovery mode

if you have already rooted, then try to revert back to official 2.1 release by downloading "software update tool" from spice. Use the same procedure as you did while upgrading from 1.6 to 2.1. and try again with recovery mode.

@Albert: Albert I am not seeing anything its just booting nomally with spice logo, even when i tried to factory reset also its not geeting so its just restarting normally.

bhanuchowdary: are you sure that you are pushing camera key and volume_up key hard enough? especially camera key has to be pushed hard. once again repeat this: ==>switch off phone ==>push(hard) and hold camera and volume_up keys, keep holding these keys, and also push and hold power_key(the one next to 3.5mm audio jack) for 15 seconds, phone should boot in recovery mode.

The firetrap ROM is not that good... it slows down the entire system at times... specially when I was working on Android market with WiFi yesterday...

Subhranath: At times most of the android phones tend to slowdown because of invoking many applications which consumes cache and slows down the overall response. Even official release from Spice has this problem. Try 'Cache Cleaner' from android market and see if this improves the response. akshit and bhanuchowdhary: give me some details why are you unable to boot the phone in recovery mode? what happens when you start the phone by pressing special key combinations? what do you see on the screen? does phone boot in a normal way? do you see any special update screen? i need some details.
