Researchers at intel in a group collaborative project have modified a standard remote to passively identify users through the small, personalized movements of their hands. The remote captures accelerometer measurements every 100 nanoseconds. Accuracy is about 60-90%.
In Layman terms- your remote will sense how you hold it and in the future will be able to customize your media experience. For example when you pick up your remote it will automatically turn on your preferred devices and go directly to the channel you watch the most. Creepy?
